PinExt Miracles vs Magic The one true answer

In the world when we perceive that things go wrong we try to fix them. We have a headache, we take a pain killer. We want to lose weight, we go on a diet. We feel anxious, we leave a situation that we perceive is causing it. All of these behaviors require some type of action in the world to get the result we are after. In the course in miracles this is known as magic. The problem is in the world and the solution is in the world. Even though these actions sometimes work, they ultimately fail because new problems will always arise and we will forever be victims of the world. This deludes us into believing there are many problems that need to be solved before we can have a sense of completion – if effect we are merely hamsters on a hamster wheel – forever going around in circles.

IMG 0693 300x225 Miracles vs Magic The one true answerThe course in miracles states there is only ever one problem, and because there is only one problem then there only needs to be one answer. The problem is defined as believing in the separation. The Separation in the course is the idea the universe of spirit/oneness can somehow wrench itself away from itself to create a world of duality. This is a problem because once this is believed then there is a massive sense of guilt because the mind believes that to exist in a state of twoness it must of killed the state of oneness. This is the original sin that evokes a deep sense of guilt which results in fear because guilt must be punished.

So according to ACIM, this is the only problem – believing the impossible has occurred. Therefore the only solution that is viable once the true problem has been discovered is stopping the belief in this idea. Realizing ideas can’t leave their source. In ACIM this is called the miracle. It’s the time (holy instant) when we remember to see the problem as it is instead of the way you have set it up. The way we set up the problems is that the problems are in the world and therefore we start to take actions in the world to solve the problem as we perceive it. This is the egos dictate – seek to solve the problem but never truly solve it. The problem for the ego is that if the answer was truly found then that would be the end of the ego. Therefore it channelizes all of its energy into a solution where there is none.

The problem as it is, is that we believe the separation has occurred. This means we believe we are in a world instead of being the dreamer of it. We feel tremendously guilty for the sin of our own self denial and now we try to make something we perceive outside of ourselves in our dreams be the one who is guilt of this self denial. This means they will be the one who is punished when god comes asking who it was that destroyed heaven. This serves the purpose the ego has (which is your purpose when you are identified with the ego) which is to remain as a dream figure but not be responsible for the death of Christ which secures this identity.

So the problem is that we will always see the problem where it isn’t as long as being in the dream is more appealing than being outside of it. And the only thing that gets us to the point of truly letting the dream go is to examine it and come to the acceptance of the first noble truth as expressed by the Buddha – “All life (inside the dream) is suffering.”

Once this truth is seen and accepted the solution is simple. To drop the belief in the separation (the miracle). This is a gradual process as the nightmare is slowly transformed into a happy dream. The nightmare dream is believing the world is real and we are real people within it – born only to die. The happy dream is nothing other that looking at the world and realizing it is false and because our reality is not contained within it then it is also powerless (not over bodies, but minds that know they are merely dreaming.)

This is the true answer – the miracle! To simply know we are dreaming an illusionary dream and our true identity is beyond it.
